Not all changes saved when editing a png file

To reproduce it:
Copy the attached icon to an icons folder with label provider activated.
Turn some pixels to transparent, pick color and paint pixels and save, close 
and open several times with different modifications. Some changes are not 
saved... Analyze the reason and fix.
