Consider replacement of commons-logging in favour of SLF4J #266

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would consider to replace commons-logging with a more popular logging 
framework like sfl4j.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.
JCL had no new releases in 6 years and it is getting more and more deprecated 
in my opinion and it's usage has significantly dropped.
