Adding a participate button helps the event creator to know that there are participants in his event. We currently have a follow and like button only.

What is the difference between participate and follow in this context?

Another solution is change names like this:

Follow becomes Participate, meaning will assist and be actively engaged.
Like becomes Interested, meaning the user likes the event but not sure if assist

What do you think about it?

the like button remains so that users can like it if they find it good or imagine it.
the follow button remains so that people can follow if there are any changes on the events and can see it in his profile.
the participate button will be for real participants of the event.
