Local OS item selection for Item Selector #8

Is it possible to add a choose local folder option for Item Selector, similar 
to the load multimedia file option?

This would need to be work across operating systems and allow use to select a 
given folder via the GUI or by file path. If a folder can't easily be selected, 
user should be able to select a specific image file and have image loader start 
at the parent of that item.
