Monk starting Void is incorrect #128

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a character with a Monk School
2. See that starting Void = 2

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
According to the Monk sidebar in the core book, Monks start with Void 3.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
3.1

Please provide any additional information below.

thanks, can you hint me the page n. in the core book? Is this true for every
Monk school or only brotherhood ones?

Page 231: Playing A Monk sidebar
"A monk's Traits all begin at 2, just like any other character. Monks begin
with a Void of 3, however."

I assume this is for all monks, but it's impossible to say since the last item
also says that all monks start with only 2 zeni, but both Togashi and Henshin
monks start with 5 koku according to the schools. Still I think the 3 void is
to let the monks activate Kiho a bit easier, considering that Shugenja can
activate more spells for easier.

I discover that if you select a Monk family then your starting void become 3 as
expected.

Try this:
1. select "Monks clan" your starting void is still 2 ( Monks clan is only a
placeholder it doesn't really exists )

2. select a "Monk family" ( e.g Order of Heroes ) and you Void is increased to
3.

That does work, though shouldn't it work regardless of the family? This seems
more school related than family related.

Though, yes, it's hard to tell from the book if that information is Brotherhood
only. I'm half-tempted to believe that you are right and it doesn't make sense
for a monk to get their family bonus, school bonus, and an extra void.

I'll leave this open until we figure out what's the best approach.
