Proposal to add dev branch #21

Perhaps it would be better if people would target a dev branch for pull requests.

For a normal project I would agree, but this library is quite stable and there isn't any active development. The only changes are bug fixes. Introducing another branch would make the admin from the maintainer's side more. Is it really worth it?
