TST: add more approval tests

Before we can refactor, there must be exhaustive tests or at-least approval tests. So:

• [ ] Matter
• [ ] Potential
  • [ ] Any subset will do for starters, maybe just the CuH2

Basically any object with state should have a minimally valid variant have an approval test.
