arm SBCs since 2015/2016 like Raspberry Pi 3, Rock64, should be capable for thinstation. Newer SBCs are more capable and cost slightly more. And armbian could be a good base OS, it offers builds for many SBC.
Armbian is not the answer for all SBCs. For instance, the best option for my Le Potato is a custom Debian.
It’s open source. Recompile it if like for any platform.
