We will put these here!

mayags commented 2 years ago

Hey there: just want to put links to the types of pages we talked about BM working on. Note that for now, these pages contain draft copy which will be updated. Happy to go back and forth with you here if you have any questions/concerns as you're working on them!

Category page: https://thirdcoastfestival.org/explore/detail/Bwh Offering page: https://thirdcoastfestival.org/explore/detail/Bxv Entry guide page: https://thirdcoastfestival.org/explore/detail/XG Vision & values page: https://thirdcoastfestival.org/explore/detail/Bxx (the other page that fits in this category is: https://thirdcoastfestival.org/explore/detail/BvH)

Page formatting changes:

mayags commented 2 years ago

Using the "Extra" Section as a "Billboard":

We would like to finalize the formatting for the “extra” section which we have started calling “billboard”? We are interested in having different ‘billboards’ on different pages, but always having the option to create a ‘billboard’ on a Competition-related page (I am working on drafting some copy for that!)

Given this concept of a “billboard,” can we use that as a concept for the “enter” button this year as well? We’re thinking that this “enter” button could share aspects of a visual identity, but be directly below the “billboard” on every page, and maybe have a different color?

Can you please update the formatting on all the individual category pages to reflect the formatting for Best Documentary? (I updated the copy on the other Categories pages as well)

The formatting should resolve once all the pages are connected properly. That's what I'm seeing on my local computer now. When you have all the content in the spot you want it I can connect everything in my final pass.

Does the “highlighting function” serve a specific purpose (perhaps around accessibility)? Can we change the color of the “highlighting” function?

Primarily yes—it is intended to be noticeable. So the color can change, but you want it to be very discernible/standy-outy from all adjacent colors. The current palette doesn't really have a color for this purpose, so one could be devised, but subtle is not the goal... it also fades away after a few seconds.

Each page has its own/billboard extra, but also embeds the billboards/extras from connected pages. In my local scheme I've used that to put something like the apply button on a higher level page (say categories) then all sub-category pages connected also have the apply button without duplicating language anywhere. I write that to say that individual billboards as well as more general/topical ones can be designed individually.

Hey there @brendanmetzger:

Just wanted to flag that I believe the "Enter Now" button that's hardcoded into the category "child" pages is an incorrect link -- leading people to a page on Paperform that prompts them to make an account. Since I think that's hardcoded, I think we'd you to change that, Brendan? (If not, let me know, and I can make that change!)

I believe this is happening on all of the individual category pages, listed here: https://www.thirdcoastfestival.org/article/competition-categories

The link lands people here: https://paperform.co/

When it should land people here: https://2022thirdcoastcompetition.paperform.co/

Let me know the best way to fix this? Thanks!
