FlatOut Ultimate Carnage crash at startup after latest update to Collector's Edition #1525

Hello WidescreenFix Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out to report an issue with the WidescreenFix for "FlatOut Ultimate Carnage." Following the recent update that changed the game's name to "FlatOut Ultimate Carnage Collector's Edition," the game no longer launches with the WidescreenFix applied. Instead, it crashes immediately on startup and displays an error window with no specific error code or detailed message. Just text "Please start the game by running launcher.exe", whether I use game exe or launcher exe, the text is the same.

Before the update to the Collector's Edition, the WidescreenFix worked flawlessly, enhancing the gaming experience by correcting the aspect ratio on ultra-widescreen monitors. However, since the update, attempting to start the game with the fix results in an immediate crash.

Thank you for your time and effort in maintaining this fix for the community.

  1. Repair your Steam install to restore the correct xlive.dll
  2. Rename the xlive.dll in the fix zip to d3d9.dll
  3. Copy files over to the game directory

Aspect fix still works; menus appear zoomed.

Since last update ultra widescreen is natively supported in game
