FAQ: how do I know what keyword to add when creating a new bot entry? #28

When I add a new bot, I'm not sure what keyword to add for it. Is there a way to access the user agent string in the Piwik UI?

I can get the UA string from the server, but what can users without access to the server logs do?

Because Piwik does not log the user agent, there is no way to help within Piwik. You can read the access-log on the server or search some webpages like http://www.iplists.com/ (ot just google the IP-adress) to identify a visitor as bot. Then use lists like http://www.useragentstring.com/pages/Crawlerlist/ to find a user agent, you can add to the plugin.
