Create a monospaced variant #25

Open BrainStone opened 4 years ago

BrainStone commented 4 years ago

Hi.
So I've really come to love this font. It's so great and readable. I'm very happy that it exists and is free for everyone!

Now as programmer I often work with monospaced fonts. Quite frankly, I use and see them everywhere.
So I was wondering if it was possible to create a monospaced font variant of this.

bghryct commented 3 years ago

Possible, but time consuming.

Would be very cool.

iCarlosCode commented 3 years ago

I was about to open an issue about it. I completely agree with the idea. A monospaced Lexend would help kids and other people to enter the programming world with the most readability possible. This font would get incredibly popular among programmers.

@bghryct , @BrainStone, @spl How can we help make this happen?

Just throwing my case in here. I have a free web app that helps people manage their time. It shows the time you’ll be finished with your day at the top. Lexend was the absolute best choice for this and stays readable from a distance at different angles (if someone leaves their phone on the table across the room for example):

A329AE12-C6D5-43F1-B7CF-23BB8F619D67

There’s an option to show seconds on the time too, however every second that passed the time would shift back and forth since the time is centered and each Lexend character is a different width. I had to resort to this other not-so-good monospace font so each character would stay in the same place:

EE550C15-434F-433D-A554-FB7E7CDF0BDF

Please, put me out of my misery.

Would love this

WinkelCode commented 1 year ago

I've been a fan of Lexend/Readex Pro literally since I first saw it, I too would love a monospace version!

laurensV commented 11 months ago

Same here, would love a monospace version!

@ThomasJockin sorry for tagging you but this request hasn't got any response from the team and it has alot of interest from the community and could help many programmers (including me). Will the team consider making a monospaced variant for readexpro?

Vouch! I fell in love with this font when I first saw it, and a monospace variant would be nice for a project I'm working on

zachbroad commented 4 months ago

Need this

apastuszak commented 3 months ago

I totally agree. This would be amazing. It would also need a slash through the zero to differentiate it from a capital O.

I made a rough version a while back that you can see here. Not sure if anyone wants an upload or wait for something official from the creators since I altered many of the characters and it only has common characters and one weight.

I'd like that! is it open-source and can we download it?

MadSimple commented 1 month ago

I think I have to call it something besides Lexend Mono because the name is reserved? I just don't want to break any rules lol

I'm not a font designer so this is just a rough design.
