infoRSS cannot install in (latest) Waterfox Classic #304

I try to install it the usual way through click on XPI file from GitHub. Browser initiates the installation process… and that’s it. For at least 20-30 minutes nothing happens anymore. github-install If I try to drag-n-drop the extension file (or open it through Ctrl+O) nothing happens at all. Sadly I don’t know where to look for errors (web console is empty). Tried all the versions available since 2.0.0.0 to the same result.

I suspect this is because waterfox has the same problem as firefox that palemoon and basilisk have fixed. whereby if you have localisations in install.rdf and don't specify the name (and possibly the description) in each one, it hangs during install.

If you're feeling brave, you could try doing that. I however, apparently need to get hold of a copy of waterfox...

Tried to remove all locale content from install.rdf, chrome.manifest and locale folder. It did work, I was able to install the purified extension. But no more than that. InfoRSS controls don’t show anywhere, nothing in customization mode, nothing on the add-on bar and status bar. If I click on Options button (in Add-ons Manager) for the installed extension browser just hangs (and throws exceptions when killing from Task Manager). A pity. This is the last remaining extension from my list of Palemoon addons, I was able to use almost all of them after migrating to Waterfox and could find an alternative for the ones that didn’t work. But not for infoRSS, it’s quite unique in what it does. Well, thanks for all the years with infoRSS. I hope someday you will be interested to add support for Waterfox.

Sorry for the long delay in picking this up. I just installed the latest version of waterfox, and installed inforss (with the tweaks to install.rdf) and it ran fine. Did you have an old version of inforss installed? It's possible there's some backwards compatibility issues with settings
