It is unclear why it is necessary to know when a session is being restored manually

There's a lot of code and about 4 state variables involved in session restore. But there are only 5 ways it can be triggered

• Startup - which just happens
• From a.n.other session manager - ditto
• Emergency startup - which I can't work how to trigger
• From settings menu
• From popup menu from group bar

I don't see why either of the last 2 need to be distinguished from the first 2
