Damage immunity in older mods like lucraft used to prevent the screenshake/visual tick damage that happens.
Currently in Palladium, you technically "take 0 damage" instead of ignoring damage entirely, like creative mode. Not sure if this is a bug or just a planned feature that hasn't been fully implemented yet.
