possibilty using TW5 on Ipad - twedit is no longer available in appstore #2848

Hi, i am using TW classic and TW5 for a few years and also TWEdit for ipad; round about a few weeks i have problems to sync with dropbox and see that twedit is no longer available in appstore; yes i now it is developed independentily of TW. So my questions: is there any new possibilty to work with TW5 on an ipad? I found some a discussion about an applostore experiment; is there somethin new?

Using TW5 within Dropbox is not for interest for me because i cant use it offline. And in Firefox i red it is not possible to install any Add-On...like tiddlyfox...

Is the only way to use TW5 on a tablet to change to android and pay a lot of money to buy a new tablet?

I'm prepared to spend some money for an app like Jeremy had discussed in github "Invitation to TiddlyPip: an Apple App Store experiment"

Is there any light at the end of the tunnel?

Thank a lot Kind regards Xiander

Hi Xiander,

Jeremy forwarded to me - I'm the author of TWEdit. I removed TWEdit from the App Store because I am about to release a replacement - hopefully in the next 30 days or thereabouts.

The new App is focused on the following:

  1. First class support for TiddlyWiki5
  2. Reading and saving of TiddlyWiki Classic
  3. Dropbox support
  4. iCloud support
  5. Action extensions to allow interchange with other Apps

I'll let people know as soon as it is in the App Store. We are doing a final push on beta testing and adding a few additional details right now.

Chris.

Hi Chris,

i am (and probably somebody else) very much relieved to here this news. I look forward with great expectation to your new app.

Have some fun by finishing the app

Kind regards Xiander

Xiander - Feel free to send an email to twmobileapp@googlegroups.com if you need something now - I can add you to the beta tester list. I can't offer much support (as I need to be coding). I've essentially closed the beta to new users, but....all I need is your email address. Chris.

@cjhunt

This news is awesome! An iOS app for TW5! (or is this only for the iPad or will it also work for the iPhone?)

Could you also add me to the beta tester list? Should i just write an email to the above address?

Also, did you already think of implementing a function that allows to sync the tiddlywiki offline via iTunes (in case of no internet connection)? Because such a funtion would be quite awesome.

Greetings

I got another question regarding the app: Interchange with other apps, would that mean that you could implement images from the foto-library to the Tiddlywiki? (if so, this would make the app even more awesome - however, maybe two options would be great in this case: to include the image in the file directly or include it in the same folder an link to it [so that the fole wouldn't grow too big too fast])

gesundelehre commented 7 years ago

How are you making progress with the app?

brimoran commented 7 years ago

The app was launched a couple of weeks ago. It's called 'Quine'.

sukima commented 7 years ago

Quine by Chris Hunt https://appsto.re/us/RAdpjb.i

gesundelehre commented 7 years ago

Thanks, but i just saw, that it requires iOS10, which i don't have (and cannot have unless i would buy a newer version of the iPhone) That's quite sad...

Hello @cjhunt

I cant seem to figure out if Quine will work with a node.js version of tiddlywiki? I currently installed a node.js version of tw in a dropbox folder, and I would like to know how to use that app to edit it on my ipad.

rcrath commented 6 years ago

Sorry to necro this issue which could probably be closed but want to reach out to quine dev @cjhunt.

quine is just what I need for putting notes between my iPad and desktop tw5. Would be a great, but it fails to autosave, even though there is a setting for it. In desktop TW if the browser closes or crashes, the open notes (I.e. in edit mode) come back on reload of the wiki as "draft of" the tiddler title. I sorely miss this as I constantly forget to close the edit window of the last note and lose it when iOS renews and quine goes back to the default wiki-open page. I'd be happy to move this offline or elsewhere if need be.

@rcrath You are aware of the Quine Google group? https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/quine-app

rcrath commented 6 years ago

@gernert thnx. Taking it there.

@diego898 Same situation. It would be great if node.js could work directly on ipad.
