1776 Piers and Ships - Accuracy #23

Per our Wiki on the harbor in c.1776...

In 1776, New York harbor would have been filled with ships. It was probably hard to see over the East River given all the masts. And "rebel" prisoners were kept on prison ships floating in the Navy Yard basin from ~1776-1782. We should...

Boat models need to have "sails down" version available (for when at anchor)

I count 27 piers, all along the East River (Hudson banks were too steep). Of those 27, maybe 6 are the largest size.

This is from the 1782 British Headquarters map, so probably accurate enough for 1776.

Added this ship (HMS Rose) to 1776 level. Built in 1757, served in the Revolutionary War (for the British). image

16 piers on this 1776 map. Perhaps more were added during the British occupation.
