Our 1660 Castello Plan map looks great, since it's high-resolution and only covers the southern tip of Manhattan
But our 1609 "Townsend MacCoun" map looks awful:
1776 is also too grainy:
finally: 2021 (which we should replace with 2024) is also too grainy. Need to find nn open-source or purchasable super-high-resolution map of New York City.
New York Times published a somewhat interactive map of NYC in 2016, includes individual buildings, their heights, adresses, etc. Mapping the Shadows of New York City: Every Building, Every Block
Found an open source platform that inputs real-world mapping info into Unreal. I may test it out tonight: https://cesium.com/platform/cesium-for-unreal/
This could be super helpful for the 2024 map

1776 Plan of the City of New York provides a map with shaded areas that represent buildings. It seems like some buildings were connected to each other (a Georgian architectural style called London terraced townhouse), as was typical of the Georgian architecture of the time ([https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terraced_house#:~:text=A%20terrace%2C%20terraced%20house%20(UK,row%20houses%20or%20row%20homes.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terraced_house#:~:text=A%20terrace%2C%20terraced%20house%20(UK,row%20houses%20or%20row%20homes.)
Plan of the City of New York, 1776:
Locate image files (jpeg or any format) to replace the low-res maps we are using currently for 1776, 2024, and 1609 (in that order of priority).
