Heh, you're fast :) I was curious to see how many hits this thing is getting, so I added it just last weekend. I've set the thing to anonymise IPs to keep the privacy impact to a minimum. But thanks for giving me a more privacy-friendly alternative, I'll take a look at it.
I really like the idea of Open Source analytics. Plausible Analytics seems like a much better match with my beliefs than Google Analytics. However, I don't feel like it makes sense to pay another subscription (besides the domain name) for this small pet project... It's such a shame that Github doesn't provide a way to see Github pages visitor stats yet.
You could also self-host something like Matomo Analytics, but then you have to keep up a server.
Would it be possible to replace Google Analytics with something more privacy respecting like Plausible Analytics?
I would prefer to not have google tracking me while visiting your site.
