autoplay won't work on many mobile browsers, so we need the controls to be shown if it is mobile. (This may be an issue only for android.)

Unsure what you're looking for exactly. On mobile browsers, it will show the native play button. I tried it on both Chrome and Safari on my iPhone 6 running iOS 8.1:

ahh for ios that is true but not for android I don't believe
