Direct-drive or belt reduction for carousel feeder #10

Do we want to gear the stepper motor down, or can we use it direct-drive? I do think the bearings in the stepper motor are strong enough to support the side-load, and I believe that if the motor stayed always powered up (like we talked about, RS-485 controlled, rather than the current EMC02 modular tool interface that only allows one tool on at a time), then it would not do the little sine-wave movement that it does currently before the pick.

It wouldn't be hard to design it for stepped down. We'd need to get a hub for the tray to be mounted to that will have the gearing on it. We could use the 16T pulley that we currently have on the motor, and gear it down to 2:1 or something.

We will use direct-drive, as it's simpler and has worked so far. We will run the DRV8825's at 32x microstepping, and will keep the motor enabled while the machine is on, which from what I have seen should be more than adequate for what we're trying to do.
