Usage data needs to be set up as a device. #6

Hi,

Thanks for the great work.

I have set this up on a new installation and the integration is working weird when I compare it to my Shelly 3EM. The Shelly sets itself up as a device and allows you to view the recent data, and see all the attributes. Even just viewing the data in the history page is not possible. The only way to view the data is via the Energy dashboard.

Ultimately what I would like to do it use the data as a method to calibrate my Shelly 3EM so I can see how accurate it is and also make better reading.

Have Amber usage as a full blown device will make it fit into HA much better and be more of what people are expecting.

Thanks in advance. Gordon.

Hi Gordon, I get your concern. Unfortunately, when I was looking into this, HA sensors aren't supposed to be the place for retrospective data, and the only workaround I could see was to write directly to some statistics. Not sure if anything has changed, but due to the 1-day delay of smart meters, I don't see the feasibility to integrate directly as a HA device yet :(
