Hi Is there a way to get the raspberry pi to listen to a speaker aux output (of a chrome cast with an HDMI to aux adapter) instead of a microphone?

Yes, use a usb soundcard. However do you have another way to hear the audio or is the only audio going to go to the pi leaving you with a deaf light show?
