If it helps, apparently GFL library now supports SVG.... 
(http://www.xnview.com/en/GFL/#formats)

Also, is there a way to do this version 2.0.0.16 which 
  * Added user-defined file extensions

I am still running 2.0.0.15, which is what is bundled in 'Downloads' area.
