changing default download folder in gui settings doesn't take effect right away (if at all)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. go in tools / transmissions options
2. enter a new default download folder on remote host
3. add a new torrent in automatic mode (no file display)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected to dl in the new default folder, but retains the old one for either 
some time or forever. so any new torrent added that bypasses the download file 
box just goes in the old default folder.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
5.0 on win 7sp1 64bits

tested with the display files box and it also shows the old path not the new 
one.
