I am getting a range check error #826

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Start the program up and let it be idle
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the program to stay connected to transmission-daemon. Instead it
disconnects with a range check error.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I am using version 5.0.1 on Manjaro Linux

Please provide any additional information below.

I've gotten the same when changing back and forth between different versions. I
fixed it by deleting the configuration file for the transmission remote GUI
application.

Are you talking about the transgui.ini file? I deleted it and started it back
up but still got the same error after a couple of hours sitting idle.

Yes, I was talking about the transgui.ini file. So I don't know what the issue
is for your system. :-(

It's very hit and miss as to when it does it. Been researching it but can't
seem to find anything. Is there a log anywhere I might look at?

Has there been any progress on this? Is there a log file I can look at
somewhere to figure out what is causing this error?

What version of the daemon?
There are some bugs in the daemon that might cause this over time.

I will know for sure when I get home to look but I'm sure it's the latest 2.84

If it's the 2.84 then I suggest a test with

https://github.com/cfpp2p/transmission/wiki/2.8x-branch-2.77-core

https://github.com/cfpp2p/transmission
https://github.com/cfpp2p/transmission/archive/svn/trunk.zip

This daemon works with the 5.01 remote GUI
or you can use this one for additional features integration:
https://github.com/cfpp2p/transmission/wiki/Compile-enhanced--remote-GUI

I still hear reports that 2.84 remains with json and RPC issues but the cfpp2p
uses a more stable json so you might want to try that.

I don't really think the range check error is directly caused by the GUI but
otherwise I really don't know.

Of course I can't know for sure the error is caused by the GUI but the only
time I've gotten it is when I am running this version of it:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/transmission-remote-gui-qt4/

I have ran the GTK version with no problems.

QT version is completely untested. There is no official QT release. You need to
use the GTK version only.

I removed the QT version, installed the gtk2 version here:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/transmission-remote-gui-gtk2/

After a little while I got the same range check error.

I will try that one when I get home. I wonder if there is a way to get the
enhanced version with that pkgbuild?

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Ok, I have it installed. In fact, I THINK I have the enhanced version install.
Is there any way to tell for sure?

It seems the issue is solved. I've been running the enhanced version for almost
2 days now with no errors. Thanks for the help.
