Status updates and introductory text #426

I think the status updates and introductory text need to look different and
it needs to be clearer what they are. It might work to put the status
updates inside the box, just above the check box boxes, and the
introductory text outside and above. Or just change the colour of each.

I also think the introductory text is a bit too cryptic. Maybe something
like the following:

Scientists use computer models to help understand how a virus might spread
through a population. You can use this model to experiment with ways to
slow or even stop the spread of an infection. Think about how the model
relates to the real world, what assumptions does the model make, can you
give us suggestions for improving it?

Generally I think we need to think a little more about the position of
different elements on the page e.g. if the first thing students will do is
press 'make your game' button, then maybe this should be at the top of the
page (after the introduction). This would be nice because then the text
above the agents would stand out more.

I still think the check box box categorisations are a little arbitrary e.g.
why is 'students go to closest school' in with 'change your model' and will
the students understand the difference between 'change your model'/'change
your game'.

Finally, I don't see the need to make the display of the sliders and graph
optional using the tick boxes. Changing these right from the start is still
educational and a good introduction. AND they can be easily ignored as they
are out of view at the start anyway.

Need to see how status updates are confusing. Let's talk about it when you return.

I agree that the Make Your Game button is better at the top. Done.

I don't want to clutter up a page someone uses with introductory text. I think a help

button the pops up some help is better. It can be rather wordy. Working on that now.

I like the current box categorisations but let's talk about that when you return.
