I'd like the ability to create a Hangout app/extension that serves as a
customized Hangouts On Air pre-roll to entertain an audience and display some
sort of data while people wait for the pending broadcast to begin.
It's awesome that we can play a live feed and be told it'll start soon then
have it automatically play - but I'd like to do something more interstitially
rich, seeing as how not all shows always start on the dot and delays can last
several minutes run the risk of losing eyeballs. This builds on the age-old
concept of NBC showing a full-screen peacock graphic during "We're experiencing
technical difficulties" incidents, but leverages interactivity to take it an
entire step forward and actually create something positive out of it.
It would certainly be neat to provide waiting viewers with short attention
span, low-impact "stuff" like mini-games or a stream of information. Not ads
per se, but just something clever to look at or interact with until the live
feed starts.
Thanks for listening! :)
