Access to activities posted in a community #639

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Describe in detail the new feature you would like to see added
Similar to how activities.list works for people and pages it would be great if
this could work for communities as well (as was unofficially and unintended
possible before).

activities.list(communityId) should return a list of posts that happened inside
of the community (newest first).

Describe your use case, or some example use cases, for this feature
- Statistics for community owners/moderators: who are the most active community
members, in what categories is the most activity, ...

- "Community widget": If someone wants to promote their community outside of
Google+ they could use this API to display a list of recent posts.

This functionality would be very helpful for my workflow as a moderator of
several communities.

Why do you ask, when there is over one year no response?

What I was wanting to know is if there was a way to see if people in your
community when they commented or plussed one were reaching others in their
circles. If they are only in my community and not a friend then I can not
reach out to the others they have in circles. That is the circle that gets
the info about my community. Does Circle Share do that now?

Analyzing communities would help give meaning to the reasons why the community
excels.

I can't believe we can't get lists of community posts and process them. I'd
like to make an Ingress tool for keeping an archive of our community SITREP
history by searching for posts containing #sitrep and adding them to a list
somewhere.

I need to analyze the postings of my community. Just to know what is
interesting for people and what not. So please, reactivate this feature. A lot
of people need this!

A lot of replies from people, but no comments from Google side. It's sad ... Is
Google+ abandoned?

I don't know if Google has abandoned Google+ but I have after waiting years for
this. Managing a community is a pain and the lack the api to create tools to
help with that makes it worse.

Have there been any developments with this? We have a Google Apps for Work
configuration, with an internal Google+ network. I need to be able to get all
posts to the community through some form of API.
