Feature request : parse the smooks-mapping.xml #5

It should be great if we can have in Talend a GUI that will show all the
column available on the smooks-mapping.xml with the related XPath. Is my
feature request clear?

Yes that's a good idea. I was also thinking about it, however my idea was to
integrate the EDI component with
Talend Metadata. So possible scenario would looks like this:
1. Define a new Smooks EDI Mapping metadata
2. In metadata you would be able to see all elements/schemas generated by
mapping
3. When user Drag&Drop metadata to the diagram then TSmooksInput component
automatically created.

Right now we are in planning phase for the updated UI for Talend EDI
components. One possibility would be to display mapping information in the tree
so that users would be able to select what's required.

Great, when do you think it will be available?

Right now we are discussing enhancement proposals within Smooks mail list,
generally it would require the little refactoring inside the smooks code. I
would expect this feature to be available earliest end of this year. I will
post updates/links here too.

Any update on this? And can this component be used for X12 EDI files or
UN/EDIFACT files?
