Is this how it's usually done in homebrew? I thought it was nice that it'd pull master.

Yea in homebrew-core formulas specify the version number and update them when a new version is released. You can use the ‘—HEAD’ argument as before to install from the master branch. Before this PR the ‘HEAD’ argument was required anyway.
