Brightness control doesn't properly override automatic brightness #290

I have configured a brightness slider alongside with brightness buttons on my touchbar. However I find myself constantly fighting against the system's automatic brightness control.

The first issue is quite simple: when the system automatically starts lowering the brightness, the brightness buttons don't work during the transition because the system keeps overriding my input immediately afterwards. The only thing that works is to grab the brigthness slider and pull it to a higher value.

The second issue is a more annoying one, and one that unfortunately made me uninstall this tool. When you increase brightness using the system default touchbar, the brightness stays at that value for a long while because the automatic brigthness appears to be automatically disabled. However with this tool, the automation doesn't go into this pause mode and the system might decide to lower the brightness again after just 30 seconds. Sometimes this just keeps happening and I need to keep increasing the brightness all the time.

Does the issue still occur if you go to System Preferences > Displays and uncheck Automatically adjust brightness?
