[Android 13] TC doesn't work with data network #339

Do you use TrackerControl from Google Play/F-Droid/other? TrackerControl 2022.07.22-fdroid

Describe the bug Hello,

Since upgrade to Android 13 on my Google Nexus 4a, TC is not able to work with 4G data network anymore, it doesn't filter other applications data as usual.

With WIFI, TC filters other applications data as usual.

Of course if I disable "Block connection without VPN" and "Permanent VPN" in Android VPN settings, my 4G data network is working without TC.

I tried to enable logs to join them, but log screen is crashing with 4G data and I didn't find a way to export them.

I also had problems with other VPNs but I was able to workaround using IP v6 only.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Have a phone on Android 13
  2. Enable "Block connection without VPN" and "Permanent VPN" in Android VPN setting
  3. Problem: TC is not filtering other applications data as usual.

It seems to be a bug due to Android 13 itself, I'm not sure you can do anything to workaround on your side: https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/wpcy0n/psa_dont_upgrade_to_android_13_if_you_use/

As suggested in this issue: https://github.com/GrapheneOS/os-issue-tracker/issues/1411 (I'm on stock Google OS but found informations there) if I disable "Block connection without VPN" from Android settings (after restart) everything is working normally again. Of course I'm losing guaranty no app connection will bypass TC but I didn't see any ads come back indicating it can be the case for now...

FYI, I saw no improvement with December Google Pixel update (despite the fact release note talked about General improvements for VPN connection stability and performance on mobile networks under certain conditions: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/191508547/google-pixel-update-december-2022?hl=en ).

So I lost patience and rolled back my phone to Android 12. TC and other VPNs are now working again like a charm.

I let you decide what to do with this issue but I'm surprised nobody else are experiencing it...
