[Suggestion] Tier 9-11 Item Diversity #22

Suggestion: Add more diversity to the Tier 9-11 items both within and between tiers. Some ideas to do this:

  1. Change the stat combinations between rarity and tier
  2. Change the stat values between individual items instead of using the generic formula method introduced for these tiers and rarities
  3. Significantly reduce the number of items in each tier. More is not always better, especially when all the items are the same and we have limited inventory space.
  4. Give each new tier and rarity a raider type and equipment type focus as was done for the Tier 7 (warrior and priest chest) and Tier 8 (archer and mage weapon) artifacts.

In the previous item tiers, it was fun to find an uncommon or a rare item that worked better than artifacts in a certain build and lower tier items that still were worth keeping. For example, take my build for beating the first Tier 9 boss at WAIR 0 Raider Level 70 that uses items from Tiers 5-8 with rarities from uncommon to artifact:

6f3504e8-21ff-11e7-8caa-a0c1499c26fb

However, now Tier 9-11 items all seem pretty much the same, except values changing just as if WAIR had been increased. It is great to have HP and base damage items, but 3 Tiers worth of items with the same stats seem a bit excessive.

For older players that have good tier8 setup it's not worth to replace their items with tier9/tier10 and they should be able to get straight to tier10 and then farm few items to beat last raid for tier11. I think mixing 2 stats +dmg/hp would be awesome idea.

I agree, Lenatti, and I am fine with the transition from tier 8 to 9 items. And I see what you mean by players not switching to the new tier items until Tier 11 anyways.

Nevertheless, being able to skip a tier with good equipment/build (like berserkers in Ravaged Abode) or raider levels/WAIR accumulated between versions shouldn't be an excuse to make items of the next tier essentially identical to the previous "easier" tier. It just seems like a waste of Tiers 9-11 to make them identical both between tiers and between rarities.

Furthermore, I don't quite see the logic behind having so many items for every raider type at each of the three new tiers, especially when they all have the same stats. Not only is it clogging up my inventory with useless items, but it also further detracts from the item variety within Tiers.

Yup, the current items are just templates to get us started. A lot of the stats you will see there will stay that way in release, but some of those items will be removed, and extra ones (that don't follow the current formula) will be added as well! Keeping this issue open until I make that item pass.

You'll notice a bunch of removed, changed and added items with the latest build. Additions and changes in stats and effects are restricted to rare and artifact items for now.

More changes are coming with release, but some feedback on these changes would be good.
