I think it'll be safer to go with Quarrelshooter since it's on the wiki. It's one space shorter too xD.
But Quarrel and Shooter are two different words :/.
Quarrel Shooter, Shooter of Quarrel, Quarrel's Shooter. Someone who shoots quarrel.
And if you were to actually look up the term, it's two words.
I know! But this is a fictional setting, we need to accept some sort of word play ^^;
English is an evolving language still; I'm sure gunslinger was a weird term for its time xD.
What about Schwarzer Reiter? That would make 0 sense if it was put together, two separate words that should remain separate.
I think going with the "To remove the space" is fine, if it were the only one. But since there are other class names that pretty much need a space, it should be kept the same as the actual term, "Quarrel Shooter." Since we'd gain nothing out of removing the space. Shouldn't it stay the same >m<?
Well that's why I'm asking for clarification, because as far as I'm aware IMC wants us to follow that wiki for reference. In which case, my recent pull request should sort that out.
There was an issue a while back regarding Schwarzer Reiter: https://github.com/Treeofsavior/EnglishTranslation/issues/133
As I don't know German, I'm not sure if the language is flexible for you to make up words or combine words to make class names like we do in English. For the Schwarzer Reiter case, it appears the meaning is "Black Rider". If it were English, you could say it could be Blackrider. (which would work just like blueberry is not blue berry).
I personally am ok with either terms, but I want to stay consistent with the wiki for now. If you are in the CBT, you'll realize there is a lot of consistency problems.
If you say Black Rider it removes it's context tho. The class names are all designed around real actual knights, organizations, people, jobs, etc.
I suppose if the wiki is done by IMC then that's what it should be tho, I guess I have to concede.
Just because the wiki is done by IMC doesn't mean you have to concede. It's not exactly perfect. As long as what you suggest seems to make sense, and everyone agrees, then that's fine.
In any case, Quarrelshooter is actually the black sheep here, since the name seems to be an original invention for this game. Because of that, there are less "rules" for it (implying that there ever were rules...) and if one version looks nicer, then I say take it.
Quarrelshooter looks kind of forcibly lumped together. Personally, Quarrel Shooter looks better to my eyes.
@ttgmichael In German, you could do something similar to Blackrider: Schwarzer Reiter -> Schwarzreiter (that saves 3 characters! :p) I think I'd prefer to keep it separate though.
Why not create a Strawpoll for the community to vote upon?
@Kweef because it's not necessarily the communities decision, only IMC knows what they want to name their classes, it's not the same as just fixing up a quest dialog.
@cordogames Despite the fact that it is IMC who chooses the name for the class, if the community really wants a space between the name, IMC would probably change it. It's still just a name so it's not going to affect anything else.
@imcgames what is your input on this?
Strawpoll sounds like a good idea

So I've been referencing these guidelines: https://github.com/Treeofsavior/EnglishTranslation/wiki/2.1.%20Class
In my recent contributions for QUEST_JOBSTEP.tsv, which one is the correct one so I know going forward.
