By minimal mode, I mean the option to get rid of the new icons row, a simple 'turn icons on/off' would suffice, but having less things on the screen, again, like in the older releases would benefit productivity. Especially since Trenchbrooms strength, for me, was the barebone display it had going for it from the start, which forced you to quickly catch up with shortcuts, and not bother with the menus.
