This is possible when adding new torrent - just check "Don't add torrent's name
to
path" checkbox and enter the required directory name manually. But such
checkbox is
missing in datadir plugin, which is indeed a minor inconvenience.

borouhin, untill I add a torrent I am not sure whether the paths would work or
not in
their initial naming, therefore "Don't add torrent's name to path" is good only
if
are sure of the naming in the first place.
Moreover torrent filename (ex. some_id_some_title.torrent) does not always
represent
identical torrent name and paths that will be created.

Changing the folder name stored in the torrent (even for one-file torrent) can
really
be useful. I remember having big troubles with a torrent whose directory for
downloaded data had a "/" in it's name...
I needed to tell the client to ignore the folder in the torrent and put it's
content
on a different directory with a sane name. Can this already be done with
rtorrent/rutorrent?

1) Single-file torrent can't contain directory. If it contain directory, then
this is
a multi-file torrent.
2) If torrent contain absolute path (for example, started with '/') - this is a
incorrect torrent.
3) For multi-file torrent you can specify its top level directory in torrent's
addition dialog (option "Don't add torrent's name to path.").

If it is allowed, I can provide a link for such a torrent. It gave me serious
headaches :)

Some misunderstanding between us. Yet once: if torrent contain directory *and*
file
in it, then this is a multi-file torrent (in rtorrent terms). One directory +
one
file = 2 files. Top-level directory can be replaced for such torrent.
>If it is allowed
Of course.
