Lightning Labs has released the taro daemon alpha. Despite what the name might imply the taro daemon is not a little monster that steals your root vegetables, it is a tool to issue and transfer assets on bitcoin and lightning. Antoine Riard has written a new BOLT proposal to solve channel jamming using a reputation credential scheme. Each node supporting this scheme issues tokens to peers that can be redeemed to create an HTLC forward with that peer. Nodes are free to experiment with different token and issuance designs without network wide coordination.

The Tornado Cash Trial A good introduction to the tornado cash matter and the arrest of Alexy Pertsev. Aaron and Sjors provide a high-level description of what was going on, it’s relevance to bitcoin, and even mention Wasabi Wallet at one point. A key point is that it is still unclear exactly which angle the prosecution is going to argue. They postponed the trial for another three months, at which time the prosecutor will have to provide a more detailed description of the charges.
