New Tribler 12 #6919

I have a internet connection 300/30 and kabel TV. When Tribler 11/12 is running and I am watching back on my Horizon box a film to be able to skip the commercials. it seems as if I have network problems, because when I try to skip 7 minutes of commercials it says it is not able to do it, unless I stop tribler then I have no problems. All other devices within the network also seem to have slow internet connections when Tribler is running. I have IPV6 with IPv4 NAT from Ziggo and maybe that is causing problems? I tried the new version 12 too and that seemed to cause the same issue. Is anybody else using Ziggo IPv6 DS Lite having this same challenge?

That is a bad experience!

It could be that your kind ISP is putting you in constrained 'Bittorrent mode' when it sees any seeding or active torrent. Could you check Tribler settings for 'exit mode' that.would explain bandwidth usage. Or you hit a Tribler bug and it's contesting all you Internet. Quite and achievement actually with 300/30, so this is all quite a puzzle to me. Could you activate debug planel and check the IPv8 tab plus tunnel tab? A 1 hour traffic usage check would be insight hopefully.

Can you check 'fast.com' reported speeds in a browser with and without Tribler?

Since december 2022 I switched from Ziggo to Odido, so I do not have ipv6 anymore, althought I still experience tv problems when Tribler is uploading. I have now fiber at 430/430. As soon as I stop Tribler all tv problems are gone. Hence I am uploading at these times with 40Mbs and since it is Google IP TV, it is logical that I experience problems. So you may close this issue.

Thanks for the update.

We've recently been focused on trying to fix as many old bugs (and old feature requests) as possible. Blocking your TV shows is not good. Giving users, like yourself, more control over Tribler's bandwidth usage is definitely still on the agenda. However, I'm not sure if bandwidth control will be included in the upcoming 8.0 release. At any rate, we'll try our best to push it out as soon as possible.
