Whist: No Trump Joker play and partner play #86

Please reprogram to play the joker after you run out of a suit in a No trump. This is the way Whist is played.

Also, on No trump partner should lead back the partner's lead suit if they can.

Asked for clarification on the second paragraph.

Clarification on the 2nd paragraph:

When a person bids a no Trump, they play their first card and your partner takes the book. The partner should lead that suit back if possible, to play any other suit exposes the bidder ‘s hand. Also playing aces exposes the bidders hand.

Clarification on the 1st paragraph:

On a No Trump you never lead the joker back after winning a book ,that gives the opponents the chance to change the suit. If you have a joker and your partner bids a no trump, you play the joker when you have run out of a suit, you never lead with it...unless it is the last card in your hand, than the player on the left determines the suit.

I’m so sorry I didn’t answer your question. Yes, it is enforced. if you do not play your joker after you’ve run out a suit In a No Trump bid that is considered a renege and you will lose the game.

BTW that is one of the main complaints regarding your site. No trump computer play... Not returning the bidders lead suit, not playing the joker when you run out of a suit, leading with the joker, and “taking the tops off suits” (leading with aces).

In Whist, the partner to the bid caller should never, ever, lead the joker in a "no trump" hand. The joker is the worst card to lead as it gives control of the suit to the opponents.

From a customer:

At no point should a joker be led during a No Trump bid in Whist. That’s giving the other team an advantage.

antross commented 11 months ago

Bots need to continue to play a suit in a "no trump" game when only it and partner has cards in a suit.

You have a logic flaw in Whist when the bid is no trump. Your bots lead a Joker thinking it is the high card, but it is actually the lowest card, so the bot always loses those tricks. You probably have a similar issue when bot is not leading in not trump round and thinks it is playing a high card.

Whist: In bidding a "NO" If bot takes the lead, instead of playing the same suit I initially played before it got the lead, it comes back in a different suit I may not have and we get set. In all cases, it has the suit I started with in hands which, had it played the starting suit, we'd make it.

The joker has no value in a no trump other than changing the suit and removing the control from the bidder. On a no trump bid it is played when you run out of a suit or when you can't follow suit. It is so frustrating on this site to have the Bots leading a joker back on a no trump when they have the lead suit in their hand.
