Inspired by #216 and #221, there is surely a need for improved free artwork. One could either ask in communities for artists (probably assemble a database of "jobs" first) and then advertise and manage these jobs. I have no ideas where the communities of artists willing to work for free are. Might even be more difficult than finding programmers willing to work for free.
Alternative might be to use modern job platforms to pay for the jobs, for example fiverr.com. For example I found there a composer from South America willing to compose epic soundtracks for games for about $50 per track. That's something I might even be willing to pay by myself, just for improving a game.
