The services for machine translation by Google, Microsoft, ... cost money but after testing them I can say that at least for the languages I tested, the results are reasonable now (from abysmal years ago). The workflow to enhance internationalization would be:
prepare a game for multiple languages if it isn't already (extract strings in some kind of resources, check screen direction, separators,get default language from OS, ..)
automatic submission to a machine translation service of choice
make the additional languages selectable in the game
mention the machine translation in the documentation and setup a contribution workflow that enhances the translated content, i.e. where players can give feedback
It's probably most easy to implement and most useful for inactive, mature games with lots of text content.
