I could write an article for opensource.com (https://opensource.com/how-submit-article) about how to build this database. Describing the archeology of open source gaming development.
I could post on https://forum.freegamedev.net/index.php but should make sure that all their featured projects are included already (they should actually).
see also the communities in #46
Maybe this could also be a friend of https://libregamewiki.org/Main_Page
I posted on reddit and on freegamedev.net about the project. It created some interest.
I also posted on gamedev.net it also created some interest. Now I will concentrate on improving the HTML frontend before further promotions.
And the goal is 600 entries.
We have now >1300 entries, but they are not yet cleaned up and the HTML output needs to be improved. I'm reluctant to make lots of advertisement now. But once this is done, I will post on reddit, freegamedev, gamedev again (I have made good experience with all of them) and also elsewhere.
The static HTML output is still not there, but I will just push it out and then make some advertisment again.
The static HTML output is now there, but I want to polish it a bit more.
The static HTML output has been polished quite a lot with the dynamic HTML table there again and screenshots and filters and statistics and contribution guidelines, so I feel ready for some promotion.
I wrote an updated post at forum.freegamedev.net.
I could even propose an article to opensource.com. I wonder what the sales pitch should be. I thought about "Open source game archaeology." or "How many open source games have ever been made?" or "Can an open source game every really die?" and 600-800 words as a regular feature article. If there is more time I will wrote a proposal and send it to them.
Would also like to post at https://www.gamedev.net/forums/ but need to find login information first...
In Wikipedia there is a link to this Github projects. It could probably better point to the static website.
I should also check out playingtux.com Maybe also https://framasoft.org/en/ and there especially games (https://degooglisons-internet.org/en/list#tag-game)
I saw that LGW, OSGC and OSGL have been removed from the external links section of the WP page about OS games. I did not want to start an edit war, but still think that WP page would profit from these links. That's why I started a discussion about it.
More links on Reddit to parse:
PC Gamer recently mentioned the OSGL and spoke actually quite nicely about it. Might be an indication that it's a useful resource.

Once the entries I wanted to add have been added, license and source status for them are clarified and a dynamic html table is created and put online, create a small promotional text summarizing this project as well as the possible ways to contribute and circulate it within the open source gaming communities.
Also try to get listed on Wikipedia as well as start a reddit about it.
