Segfault with Window Rules #18

Closed HalosGhost closed 11 years ago

HalosGhost commented 11 years ago

With various different window rules enabled (including just those which are included by default), running Steam causes TTWM to segfault. See below:

Apr 07 14:36:27 Prometheus systemd[3822]: Started ttwm.
Apr 07 14:36:31 Prometheus ttwm[31089]: Running Steam on arch rolling 64-bit

Apr 07 14:36:31 Prometheus ttwm[31089]: Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1363394289_client)
Apr 07 14:36:32 Prometheus kernel: ttwm[31089]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f18e005ccc0 sp 00007fff7f0609b8 error 4 in libc-2.17.so[7f18dff40000+1a3000]
Apr 07 14:36:32 Prometheus systemd[3822]: ttwm.service: main process exited, code=dumped, status=11/SEGV
Apr 07 14:36:32 Prometheus systemd-coredump[31212]: Process 31089 (ttwm) dumped core.
Apr 07 14:36:32 Prometheus systemd[3822]: Unit ttwm.service entered failed state

After commenting out or removing all the window rules so the static Rule rules array is empty (save the comments), the problem is resolved. Thoughts?

Can you get xprop output from steam?

HalosGhost commented 11 years ago

Sure, xprop output follows:

WM_NAME(UTF8_STRING) = "Steam"
WM_PROTOCOLS(ATOM): protocols WM_DELETE_WINDOW
WM_HINTS(WM_HINTS):
Client accepts input or input focus: True
_NET_WM_ICON(CARDINAL) = Icon (48 x 48):

Hmm, everything looks in order. I may have to install steam to do some testing.

HalosGhost commented 11 years ago

It would be awesome when you have the time, but it's not that high a priority. Window rules haven't been part of my work flow for near a year, I can wait until you have the time to set them up again :)

TrilbyWhite commented 11 years ago

I installed Steam (and a crap load of deps), easily replicated this, found it was due to (null) entries in the WM_CLASS and patched for that.

The working version was just pushed - please confirm if this works.

HalosGhost commented 11 years ago

Thank you for getting that worked out! Confirmed fixed as of 3ed7485
