I was over viewing it, lovely design, though I was thinking... What we could do to... make this more accessible, we have matrix, discord, ect..

Maybe we could give my ridiculous amount of api credits on claude3 opus and GPT4 turbo a try for say

"tok two mchu xanax" AI: "I will lead you to the right room

ect ect?

Interesting idea, I like the idea of utilizing AI as much as possible, some thoughts:

With the way the session system works, we've moved away from big public rooms and moved to a private thread system, so "i will lead you to the right room" doesn't make a ton of sense since they will always have a single private room, regardless if this is matrix or discord.

However, we have had this idea to have people submit the topics they're familiar with so that they can get pinged for those topics specifically. For example, someone who's familiar with Opioids may want a special ping when Opioids are mentioned. We're still working out the logistics of this idea, but perhaps the AI could determine which topics are being talked about and which ping should be sent?

IDC about IRC TBH. Everything irc could do, matrix can do, but better, and with active development. We do need a new webchat system: the current webchat (https://chat.tripsit.me/) is hosted via a discord widget/bot that needs a premium fee. It can only use public rooms, so it's basically like IRC in that anyone can join and say whatever they wanted in a big room. However, we don't like this system: People say they need help and there's no alert like we have when a new thread is created. It's one big mosh pit where you can see the history of everyone else, lowering privacy. The web rooms are open to anyone with the Helper role, so they're one step away from being public.

I would love a project that re-creates the tripsitting experience from scratch. The front end would be super clear and easy to use for people on drugs, with multiple text input methods (speech to text, maybe drawing on a tablet?). The AI could do a translation from another language or clean up any sluggish typing. The system would connect this front end to the back-end of our choosing, likely Matrix since we will see the long-term benefits of doing this ourselves in a system we control. Once connected to the back end it creates the thread, invites the people, and passes the messages from the team to the web UI.

This project would take months though and none of us have the time for that lol
