Here's a sketch for UI updates showing catalog activity, in the left column of this image:
Goal
To give a sense of ongoing activity on the platform in a way that makes it a more appealing project to be a part of.
Placement:
This design proposes a slight update to the catalog page structure so that there's a more proper sidebar. I think this real estate could be a handy and versatile place for future modules that seem worth adding to the catalog.
Scope:
We initially talked about this feature in terms of just listing stats. So let's consider the MVP of this feature to be just the "STATS" section at the top of the sidebar, and not the other two below.
The "RECENT OBSERVATIONS" and "COMMUNITY GOALS" sections can be treated as different mini-features, with their own issues. I've included them in this visual because I think these three pieces together address the above-stated goal of this feature.
The bar visualization on the "COMMUNITY GOALS" is intended to be done with some clever <div> positioning+borders, and a dynamic value for the width style.
