adding existing words to the dictionary

When inserting a word into the dictionary: if the word already exists... show some warning message / icon... Avoid duplicates.

it would be good after the warning, to have a link to "edit" the existing word... this can be helpful if the student has learned a word before and he wants to add a new meaning/synonym to that word that makes sense in a new context. This should give the opportunity to edit the existing item and add it again to the learning list.
