Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I want to invite my friends to TR. Currently I need to copy the link and write them an email.

Describe the solution you'd like

Add links to discussion on Slack (or Discourse). https://trustroots.slack.com/archives/C08SENA9Z/p1544464961044100

Stats for the AddThis widget when we had it (for like a year):

I guess folks these days don't really use email anymore. :-)

Previously merged PR with the JS code for the AddThis stuff:

https://github.com/Trustroots/trustroots/pull/874/files

And the invite-page template that still seems to be there:

Yea, maybe we could build on it later on with invitations in messages to other platforms, like FB. Thinking about it, it's about the same work to copy TR url to your email as to copy email address to TR...

😆 It does have some value though since it might work as a reminder or initiator to do that share that they might not otherwise do.

That said, we might get more shares like this when showing the share-buttons in more strategic places — a person does an action and something shows up and nudges them to share the tribe with their friends. Some example actions:

Spontaneous shares might indeed already work just fine without any features at the site, just like you wrote above. There's also some value in having one feature less in our codebase. :-)

Renamed the issue title to reflect a bit more intent rather than specific task.

Great place to have this after:

Bulk-sending invite e-mails is going to get the MX banned everywhere. I find there to be nothing wrong with sending e-mails, or whatever other method of communication one uses. If you say "trustroots", chances are the person can find it.

The only benefit I can see is having them added as a friend on Trustroots automatically.

Fortunately, if it is good enough, the math means you don't have to share it to as many people, very soon everyone in current existence will have it.

This issue is marked as unloved because it has not had any activity for 180 days.

It doesn't mean it's not important, so please remove the unloved label if you like it, or add a comment saying what it means to you :) If this was a bug, maybe you can test to see if this is still an issue?

However, if you just leave it like this, I'll close it in 14 days to help keep your issues tidy!

Thanks!
