Stuck in "Starting Quiet"

Sometimes Quiet will get stuck in a "Starting Quiet" state.

Restarting usually addresses the problem.

I'm still not sure how to reproduce this, but starting two clients at the same time in the same community was when it first happened to me.

Rather than trying to reproduce this, I think we should get our e2e tests running many times in a row, and I think we should try waggle tests with peers going on and offline aggressively to ensure connects still get made and messages still get sent.

One question I have is, if Alice and Bob both come online at the same time such that they fail to connect to each other on the first try, when does their second attempt happen? Will they connect? Will messages replicate?

Also, is there anything we can do with logging to make it more obvious what is happening in these cases and where the failure is?

There is no failure in those logs, probably logs from frontend console would help

It's super unlikely that they won't connect when they start at the same time, but anyway, in general it happens all the time. Libp2p retries connections very often (I don't know the exact number, but like once a minute? or maybe immediately after fail?)

Okay, then I think the task here is to automate starting Quiet many times in different situations (perhaps as a returning user or in a two player test) and see if we can ever get it stuck on "Starting Quiet"

That's different case, 'Starting Quiet' works as intended in this case - we are waiting for websocket connection but we don't see any in this case, creating more specific issue for that one

I think this likely has to do with running two instances at once on the same machine using DATA_DIR, which eventually we'll stop doing. This doesn't feel like a big priority. Closing.
