Static Download Links #42

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to the downloads page ;^)

Idealy, there should be a simple "Bongos2.[zip|tar|gz]" download. However,
there are version
numbers included on all download file names, and this is hard to parse/predict.

I'm using the most recent version, but I would like to be able to automate
downloading (via a
bash script and maybe cron). This is hard to do without statically named file
names!

I wanted to request this feature, and this is the only way I really found to
contact you. I wrote a
bash script to download most of my mods (almost entirely from wowace.com, since
they provide
static links). I would really love if I could do this for Bongos2 and Bagnon!

I attached the file just in case you want to check it out. I wrote this for my
Mac, but maybe a .bat
file would work for Windows? If you want to use it with cron, remove the "y/n"
read (delete/
comment 169 to 175).

I would try using wow interface for static download links. I actually don't
know how
to make them :)

e.g. just "Bongos2.zip", not "Bongos2 1.7.5.zip" and then "Bongos2 1.7.6.zip"
etc..... I have a program
downloading mods and installing them, but I don't want (or really know how) to
write it to figure out what's the
most current download of Bongos!

I would probably just make a symbolic link to the most recent version if I had
access to your downloads
server ;^) Otherwise, just a separate archive of the most recent stable
release with a name that never changes.

This will most likely be fixed if I ever move stuff to the wowace svn once tags
are
implemented there. When I last tried replacing a version here, google had a
habit of
not always properly updating the file.

Probably will be done when I switch over to wowi or curse.
